Marcellus, Michigan , (and new jersey)
so i stayed in Michigan for a few days for Grandpa's birthday but in the meantime, I fished for the first time and caught myself two mud bass - they weren't very big though, but it was still tonnes of fun for my first time.
Here was what grandpa's cake looked like: the colour theme for the party was green and yellow which of course is the colours of John Deere.
It was a huge party. there must have been like 300 people there for Grandpa's 75th birthday, the High's have a huge family and it seemed like almost all of the community was there to celebrate with him. I had a picture, but its not on me right now (I'm at the church office). so i'll send that along with pics of what my desk looks like soon.
Oh yea, I got into New Jersey today, and have been busy meeting new people and getting acquainted with my new surroundings. I hope i fit in ok here, cos for a few hours there, i started feeling extremely lonely, when I was alone in the house. But thats probably pretty natural

You are at your destination, and happy, so now your "other mom and dad" can relax. SO happy for you!! Will write after our trip to Calgary. Please pray for us. Thanks!
yay fishing! I like to fish but I don't like to take them off the hook without gloves on. =) So I always have a pair in my tackle box. Worms are okay though. Except when they're too big and you gotta rip 'em in half to get them on the hook. That's a little grosser.
Hey...so happy you arrived safely and were able to see a few of the sights along the way.
JOHN DEERE!! These are my kinda people! I luv John Deere soo much that I actually slow down when I go by a dealership! Sooo Pretty!
That's super cool that the family has totally taken you under their wing - are you living with them? Can't wait to hear what the church is like.
And RE: being lonely - You are Never Alone! (I know you know that) You are only as Alone as you let yourself be. ~ so when those feelings crop up talk to God and/or go outside and observe the wonderful city you live in - watch the tendencies of the people you will be ministering to. I know you know all these things but I just thought I would reinforce that. And along the same note you are never far from a whole army of people's thoughts - just look at the number of comments on your blog - or the number of hits your blog gets - we're all thinkin and prayin for ya!
PS....That picture of you and the fish is hilarious! Only it took me a few moments to figure it out cuz it kinda looks like the fish is coming outta your nose - except it doesn't look like a fish...
Is that really u in the photo?? Doesn't do justice to your hair man.. =P
it was a weird angle, and that patch on my forehead is the shadow coming from the bobber that keeps the fly afloat...
I lose lots of bobbers to snapping turtles in my dad's pond. They like toes too. Put mostly just bobbers. how was your casting? Did you get it figured out? Are you a pro now? That's the hardest part of learning to fish is the cast. But once you got that down, you're sailing free.
I did pretty good at casting...I guess i was more or less a natural, but you always get the odd one that goes off in the wrong direction
