Back in NB!

So, I've made it home safely! And I'm so glad to be back home! It's been great, although hectic and it's only been just over 24 hours! But, I guess that's expected considering the circumsatnces.

In all honesty, today was not the best "wedding planning" day. First, after stoping at our orginal wedding cake place they informed us that they do not (YES!! WAAHOOO!!! Canucks just got a goal!!!! Ahum.. sorry..) make the sizes that we want. So we went to a few other places and they don't do it either! So when i got home I called all the bakeries in the yellow pages and they do not even make cakes!! Like seriously people!! So mom suggested calling the hobby store we rented the stand from, and they recamended a lady, which is now possibley going to cost us twice as much! I'm meeting with her tomorrow after my wedding shower, bah! Secondly, the reception hall called and said we can't decorate the day before because she decided to book somebody else on that day, even though she knew we had it first (she actually said that to me!). She said we'll have to decorate and arrange everything the morning of the wedding!! Hello!!! We'll be getting ready then!! And, want to make sure the sound system, projector, etc all works! People! So finally, she said we can do it at 8:30 Friday night, which means we'll probabaley be there until midnight - wedding the next morning and had to cancel our plans for then! Not impressed! Then! I wanteed to get a nice body perm so my hair is easier to manage on the cruise, so i called the place i usually go and they quoted $45. Well, once the lady started she told me it was going to be $100!! Again, not too impressed! What is wrong with people's intregrity today!?

In other thoughts, since I've been back all the differences between Moncton, NB and vancouver, BC have become even more obvious. Moncton is a much more slower pace with everything, people are more friendly (ie: mom had to return something today at a store and there were 7 people in front of us and seriously, each person talked to the return guy for like 5-10 minutes, not about the return and he was a total stranger to them, it is normal to be so friendly and socialize. And, my went to pay something for my wedding, which I was thinking involved stoping at the guy's house and just giving him the money - mom's doens't know him or anything. Nope, it involved her getting a tour of his house, and talking for like 10 minutes. Then, whiel shopping we ran into people we knew, and stoped to talk and then they saw people they knew and all started talking, etc.) People in NB (in generalof course) are a lot less aggressive, less time-oriented, more relaxed, and more chilled then people in BC - from my observations anyway. Also, everything is so small and spaced out in NB. When flying in all you see are fields and fields of tress! The cultre of NB sure is great!

Upon reflecting on these differences I have come to relaize that both BC and NB have their pros and cons, it just depends what you are looking for and what stage of life you're in - and how much money you want to make, haha!

Anyway, I guess this entry has really been more of an outlet for some of my thoughts and fustrations at the moment. I'm sure things will get better, my bridal shower is tomorrow, Debbie arrives on Monday, and Darrell arrives on Tuesday - which is when things will start to get even more hectic! But, hey! That's all part of planning a wedding, there's lots of people to please while also pleasing yourselves!
- Cheryl ;)
