news from the UK
I was reading the BBC today and came across an article that sparked my interest. Granted, I was more intrigued at the word Belfast than the terms "gay weddings", but as I read story I experienced two very differing emotions - joy and disgust.
As I read the article, I was just pained at how insensitve some Christians can be. Can you imagine what it would be like if, at your wedding, you had a rowdy crowd of fundamentalists screaming bloody murder about how an abomination it was that you wanted to celebrate your love with your partner? Even if I didn't agree with the crowd, it would probably the worst day in the world to hear about a mob of people protesting my relationship.
this is not a theological discussion. its a discussion about respecting people, and treating people with the same kind of grace that Jesus exemplified in His life. People lead different lives from you, and do many things that you don't like. Some people hand wash their dishes, others sink wash. Some people like their hair curly, others like it straight, still others like the variety in between. Why is there a demarcation that some things are obviously ok to leave people alone, and certain others are suited for abuse. thats just not right. let people be.
if you really want to influence somebody, bashing a bible over their head is hardly the way to go. why don't people see this? its SO frustrating!

did you write this while I was doing the dishes??
ha! right after, thus the dish washing analogy =)
oh, i thought you were poking fun at my hair...
Amen to your ideas that all people deserve godly respect whether or not we agree with what they are doing. Why can't we seem to grasp that we can hate the action without acting hateful to the person? Your comments were sobering.
