Wow. the moment i got into the city, i was just awestruck by the majesty of everything. Unlike other cities that have cool parts that you can visit, most of ew york city is a feast for the eyes. I pretty much fell in love with it right away. while walking there are tonnes of street vendors, and i even stopped by this famous hot dog place that serves 2 dogs and papaya juice for $2.75. that's insanely cheap for new york city. it was the first time i had ever had papaya juice and it was really good.
my friends had to wait like 10 minutes before i could leave the sight of this fire hall. it was a very spiritual experience for me, this would make sense to those of you who know about my connection with emergency services...
some of you know that my favourite disney movie of all time is Beauty and the Beast. Before I leave, I'm going to watch the musical. It looks magical... and there are SO MANY musicals to go to here, its like musical theatre heaven - my kind of city!
Just thought some of you would like to see what our service like...from one very limited angle. It might look a little glitzy for some of you, but at Skyline our sunday services are intentionally meant for non believers. the environment we have created and even what you see from the website should not be confused with our approach to believers. Our #1 concern and priority is reaching unchurched people, and our service reflects this commitment. Most of the believers in our church are helping in the service and growing in life groups, which to me is a very healthy indication of discipleship.
other than that, life is chugging along. this week, i'm learning more about our philosophy of ministry and approach with caring for people.

Cool pics Darrell. I'm glad things are off to a great start and it sounds like it is a good fit so far. All the best to you bro and I pray God will continue to guide you in your new ministry at Skyline.
P.S. Be careful not to get hypnotized by all the fancy flashing lights. lol.

All those wonderful lights and city scenes.....well, it makes me want to return home to Tokyo pretty badly. Enjoy skyline and the Lord be with you! You are in the right place, that is for sure, for maybe more reasons than you can imagine.....
