Ground Zero

On Saturday, I plucked up the courage to venture into the city alone. I know, I know, its not like its scary or anything, but its always nice to go with people who know their way around. You get to enjoy the experience more as opposed to always being worried that you would get lost in this humunguous (wow i don't think i've ever typed that word out before - it looks weird) city!

Anyway, i figured it would be a bad plan to just wait for people to offer to take me, so I took advantage of my day off, and booted off to the city. One of the first things i wanted to see was Ground Zero. Wow...i was pretty speechless, I didn't really know what to expect really, but it was just a really interesting experience just imagining firstly what the two towers would look like, instead of this big open space and then more disturbingly what these two giant towers would look like crumpled to the ground. I didn't know this but a few other building went down with the WTC towers, so this pic is whats left of the area.

this is what it looks like through the big 20 foot fences they have up

After ground zero, i walked over to Battery Park and there was a live concert/dance thing going on. these guys were doing some kind of hip hop music and dancing to it as well but also combining it with like crazy gymnastics and flexibility. pretty crazy stuff. but it was so cool. just the kind of thing you find in this city
