Toronto

i've decided that i'm addicted to audio books. being on the road as much as i've been of late, i've realised that my ears just can't handle 10 hours of music a day. it...just...hurts... so i've been getting audio books and listening to them while i drive. they are great! especially if its a good book, and you get into it. so to illustrate how addicted i am:

its currently 130pm toronto time. i was supposed to leave 3 hours ago. but i'm in john's apartment burning cds, so that i have books with me to "read" while i'm on the road. i'm feeling really weird, like i'm really late for something that i need to get to. seriously though, driving alone is a DRAG and i have to find something interesting to do on the way.

madison WI is the destination today. its about 9 hours away. sure i'll get in after 10pm. but at least i'll have the chronicles of narnia to keep me company! oh yea...i'm a nerd.

oh yea, i have a tonne of minutes to use up in my american pay as go cellphone plan. so if you are bored and wanna call me long distance to chat and keep me company. by all means, call me! all of it gets thrown out on wednesday when i cross the canadian border anyway(i'm driving thru the US) 862.368.8927

actually come to think of it. i hope they don't harass me when i try to cross the border today. cos like last time, i do have a bunch of stuff in my car. man, i tell you. i'll be peeved if they reject me...again. cmon...i'm just DRIVING THROUGH

here's hoping for the best.

here's a picture of John, my friend Sharen and her husband Alvin(the taller one). Sharen has recently been accepted into the RCMP and will begin her training in Regina in January...Congratulations!

Montreal

The Canadiens game was great and managed to get cheap scalped seats. The new york islanders were in town and even for a relatively obscure team - the stadium was sold out.

After the game, i went out on an eating binge, there were so many recommendations of things to try in Montreal, and i just had to! i went to a local Lebanese deli that served up Pierre Trudeau's favourite pita. I'm not much of a vegetarian, but that was a phenomenal pita. Of course, needless to say i had to try Montreal poutine. There are all kinds of versions here, and i chose to go with the Montreal smoked meat version... seriously, not only is montreal smoked meat amazing within two pieces of rye and mustard, it was delicous on this plate of poutine. i kid you not, this plate was the size of pizza, it was huge. well you have the cup for reference anyway.

The next morning i grabbed some fresh bagels at the Fairmount Bakery and headed up to Mount Royal. Here's a shot i took of the park. its a great fall shot.

I really really loved Montreal, and wish i had more time to stay longer, but nonetheless it was a great experience
