Munich

After Amsterdam I spent two night in the wonderful country of Germany. Consistent with my love for urban life, I shot both of these photos in Munich.

Amsterdam...

More often known for its seedy reputation, Amsterdam is actually a very beautiful city, with a great mix of rich history and modern innovations. The bicycle is central to most people's commute. I suspect this is the reason why the main transportation system exists in trams which are great for long distances (not very efficient in my opinion). the bikes simply work great because there isn't a lot of hills, as most of amsterdam is built on reclaimed land that is surrounded all over by canals. Apparently, its under sea level.

by the way, get ready for lots of night shots. they are one of my favourite types of shots. Mostly because you don't often see a lot of good night shots due to camera limitations, but also because I think there is so much more you can feel when you let lights tell the story.

the gallery continues

sorry i haven't blogged for awhile, i've been busy preparing for a class that i'm in this week.

but i'm happy to get back to more photo viewing. Again, feel free to interact with the photos the way you might chat with a friend when you're in a gallery somewhere. would love to hear your thoughts...about anything of what you're thinking about as the images wash over your brain.

after my trip to India, i took the money that i would have spent on food and rent for 3 months in Canada and combined that with what was leftover from what i saved from taking classes in india to fund a bit of a backpacking trip to western europe. i've always wanted to visit western europe and it seemed like the best opportunity to kill two birds with a stone. i flew into london via amsterdam and spent 3 days in london. I liked London a lot and it was a great introduction to a bit of a romance that i've had with the UK. its very charming.

I spent a day exploring the town of Cambridge. It was a such a neat little town, with so much history in it. just loved walking down the old streets and checking out the little shops. its a self sufficient town, so everyone has a bike and thats all you need to get what you want. they even have a GAP on campus!
